At 09:58 on the morning of October 23rd, 2018, a surprising morning thunderstorm delivered an incredible 148,000 amp blast of lighting directly to our Login headquarters in Tucson.

The strike could have potentially knocked out internet service and even caused damage to our data center. Fortunately, we were intentional when we designed our new datacenter and had proactively installed a lightning grounding system across the roofline of the whole facility. It acts as a protective “halo” made of vertical rods and braided cable, providing the electrical charge an efficient path to ground around the surface of the building instead of through the “heart” of our Tucson network and servers contained within the facility.
